Sometimes, by accident, I dial “1-604-…” for a local call. I hear two rings on the other end and then a plain female voice comes on “The number you have dialed is not a long distance number. Please do not dial a 1 or a 0 before the number you are calling”.
If the phone exchange (Telus?) can determine that I’ve called locally, why not connect me anyway?
