Rant!Vancouver

I was in desperate need of a haircut so I decided to check out the salons in the West End. The first salon on my list was Pompadours. I told the friendly woman at the reception counter that I did not have an appointment but I was really hoping to get my haircut. She said, it wouldn’t be problem, but I would have to wait 15 mins. Terrific, I thought. I asked if I could use the washroom, she pointed in the direction and off I went.

Having worked in a salon years ago, I understand that sometimes it gets busy and tidying up gets left to the end of the day, but this place was filthy. The washroom had no paper towels, a used feminine product was floating in the toilet and the floors were so dirty… I’d rather hold it then use that washroom. As I headed for the door, I overheard the staff members talking to each other. Not only was the salon filthy, they were too. The conversation was very inappropriate. The woman near the window (Kara or Karen) and the woman sitting at the manicure station were simply vulgar. I grabbed a card and left.

I normally don’t complain but this time, I felt compelled to. The next day, I called the salon; the manager was not available so I left a message. No one returned my call. If the manager had called me back, I probably wouldn’t be sharing this with the world, but that is no way to conduct business.

People share your escapades with a fellow coworker in the coffee room not in front of customers!

I still need a haircut, so if anyone can recommend an excellent salon in the West End, reply with details.
