This is North America people! Just like we drive on the right side of the road we also WALK ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SIDEWALK. I’m tired of playing chicken with people - I no longer move and some people will get run down.

Completely agree. 90% of pedestrians out there do not understand the concept of sharing the sidewalk and yielding to their fellow man.
Even when I am trundling along with bags or boxes in my arms, obviously not able to maneuver as well through traffice, I will have unabashed IDIOTS play chicken with me on the sidewalk. I guess most people have never been to asia
People: A slight change of trajectory and a minute tilt of the shoulders does WONDERS for a safe, contact-free sidewalk experience.

If there is a group of 4-5 people (men, women, locals, tourists anyone) they will all walk in a horizontal line across the sidewalk not yielding to ANYONE. Come on, seriously. My husband now walks with his elbows out - especially on Robson.

i think i read somewhere that different cultures of people have different habits regarding what side they walk on, which may or may not have anything to do with what side we drive on. in north america, we stick to the right. in england, they stick to the left. but in certain countries, japan for example, they have no predetermined side! they just walk wherever they please, and they manage to navigate each other based on body language and eye contact. put us all together in a melting pot like vancouver, and we’re left with places like robson st. lol!
